Advertised Summary Job Description

The Program Manager for interdisciplinary research support, a position within the Office of Academic and Research Programs, will develop and support wide ranging internal functions that advance the Earth Institute's priorities for overall research administration. Duties include, but are not limited to, supporting collaborative research initiatives proposed by Earth Institute scientists by writing and submitting successful interdisciplinary grant proposals, particularly government grants; organizing and managing events to facilitate research development and exchange of ideas; identifying opportunities for research funding; and developing resources and initiatives to support new and existing research.

Minimum Qualifications for Grade Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of two years of experience.

Additional Position-Specific Minimum Qualifications Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant

Experience and/or a degree in a field related to sustainable development. Experience related to grant development, especially budgeting, and a demonstrated ability to write successful grant proposals. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to influence readers, and excellent copyediting and proofreading skills. A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team, lead on project-specific assignments, and also manage projects independently. Excellent interpersonal skills and the maturity to exercise diplomacy and discretion when appropriate. The ability to work on multiple projects, under pressure, with competing responsibilities. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Demonstrated computer proficiency (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with experience developing federal grant proposals, and familiarity with Columbia University's processes and systems for submitting grant proposals and/or Sponsored Projects Administration.
