The incumbent will serve as a data analyst for the New York State Cancer Services Program, to assist in program data collection, cleaning, management, analyses, and reporting. The incumbent will also provide some training and technical support to county-based contractor staff throughout New York State. Some in-state travel will be required. The incumbent must possess good communication and organizational skills with attention to detail. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in epidemiology or a related field, including or supplemented by nine (9) semester credit hours in statistics, econometrics, research methods or economics, and two (2) years of professional research experience in the collection and evaluation of data in the review and analysis of program areas. The experience should include determining the kinds of information needed and appropriate data sources and collection methods to follow; it must have resulted in written recommendations. A master's degree in an above field may be substituted for one (1) year of professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Training in epidemiology, biostatistics or computer sciences with expertise in computer data management and analysis. Experience in using SAS. Experience in web-based client/server data systems, relational databases (e.g., MS Access) and mapping software will be a plus.
