The USDA Forest Service has legislative authority to recruit and fill Permanent (Career/Career-Conditional), Temporary, and Term Appointments under the USDA Demonstration Project. Under this authority, any U.S. citizen may apply.

Independently carries out program support function and coordinates with other staff units to implement office procedures.
Exercises exclusive control over calendars for Forest Supervisor and Deputy Forest Supervisor with complete authority for time commitments.
Manages the correspondence process for the Forest Supervisor and Deputy Forest Supervisor. Evaluates content, proofreads, and ensures timely signing and distribution, and coordination with the Regional and Washington Office.
Schedules meetings and makes arrangements such as preparing agendas and briefing materials, notifying participants and reserving conference space. Develops background information and briefing materials and ensures participants have necessary information in advance of meetings. Briefs key participants before meeting(s) occur and follows up on action items with appropriate staff members.
Handles all travel logistics and travel itinerary, and provides briefing and logistical material in advance of travel. Prepares travel reimbursement documents and ensures timely processing reimbursements.
Screens all telephone calls and visitor requests and determines the appropriate person/staff to handle complicated inquiries. Personally answers non-technical request.

GS-9: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 grade level; master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related; or an appropriate combination of specialized experience and education (only graduate education in excess of 18 semester hours may be used to qualify applicants for this grade level). The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Examples of specialized experience are: Served as a front office executive assistant managing the activities, correspondence, visitors, and inquiries directed to the organization’s top management staff: prepared, reviewd and edits drafts of written correspondence, presentations, reports and similar products; utilizing a range of automated systems to carry out administrative functions on behalf of the management staff e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, presentation, email, scheduling, travel, budget and/or other comparable software and systems; and/or guiding others in performing clerical functions.
You must have completed a High School diploma.
May be subject to satisfactory completion of one year probationary or trial period.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license

You will be evaluated in accordance with the category rating procedure as defined in the USDA Demonstration Project Plan. Applicants who meet the basic minimum qualification requirements established for the position will be placed in the Eligible category. Eligible applicants will be further evaluated against criteria for placement in the Quality category. This evaluation is based on the level of your experience, education, and/or training as determined by your responses to the Occupational Questionnaire.
