Frontier Communications, Inc. is seeking a talented individual who can provide end-to-end production support for a wide range of software applications. In this position you will assist with the creation and maintenance of multiple Call Center, Operations, and Engineering application(s). We are seeking someone full-time to provide Tier I/II production support for existing applications and develop new applications simultaneously as necessary. This position will require work in all application layers (client/web, middleware, and system/database). The ideal candidate has a passion for using technology to improve business operations in a rapid development environment. This position will require constant learning to understand new technology (software/network) and apply it.
Provide Tier I/II application production support while enhancing, existing or creating new applications
Design, test, and build applications utilizing appropriate hardware, database, and programming technologies
Analyze, refine, and transform data into usable formats for application creation, migration, and reporting
Maintain and modify programs; make approved changes by amending flow charts, develop detailed programming logic and coding changes
Evaluate simple interrelationships between programs such as whether a contemplated change in one part of a program would cause unwanted results in a related part.
Implement functionality and performance testing to correct defects based on user feedback and testing
Confer with users to gain understanding of needed changes or modifications of existing programs. Resolve questions of program intent, data input, output requirements, and inclusion of internal checks and controls.
Maintain information confidentiality and security with data being processed, stored, or accessed
Create and maintain technical scope, design, requirement, middleware, and API reference documents
Provide technical training and support to other departments for various applications
Able to provide overnight on-call production support as needed, as well as other duties as assigned.
Occasionally maintain aspects of hardware/software infrastructure to support test and dev environments
Requires a bachelor's degree in a related subject matter or a minimum of 3+ years of direct experience in Telecommunications Operations and one (1) year in software development
Responsibilities will require evening and weekend work in response to needs of the systems being supported
Ability to manage projects, this includes interaction with internal/external customers
Create, test, and maintain Frontier software, databases, and network configurations
Resolve technical problems with an application, web service, or related database
Practical experience with installation and configuration of Windows and Linux server environments
Ability to process computer data and to format and generate reports.
Ability to implement and troubleshoot programming changes and modifications.
Knowledge of software and network flow charts
Ability to write technical instructions in the use of programs and/or program modifications.
Ability to investigate and analyze information and to draw conclusions.
Ability to quickly learn and support new systems and applications.
Requires strong interpersonal skills to interact with users and customers.
Proficient in a Team Foundation Server (TFS) environment or equivalent source control platform doing software development and testing
General Networking experience switches, routers, LAN(LANs, WANs), TCP/IP protocol
Basic understanding of communication LAN/WAN networking components (i.e., PCs, Routers, Multiplexers, Bridges, and Switches. etc.)
Basic understanding of the network between the service/distribution router and the customer’s premise
Basic understanding of customer services and equipment inside the home: POTS, VOIP, Data, and Video
Basic understanding of the access network for both ADSL and FTTH platforms
