NYSUT seeks an Experienced System i (iSeries, AS 400) Programmer Analyst

NYSUT a 600,000 plus Member Organization seeks a qualified candidate for a full time professional position in NYSUT's Information Technology Department in Latham, New York. Qualified candidates must possess a strong background in System i (formerly i Series, AS400) Technology. 5+ years experience analyzing, designing, programming, maintaining, and implementing System i, ILE and RPG III,DB2 and RPG/Free applications under OS V5R4 or above in support of new or revised application requirements requested by end users or management. CL Programming, ILE embedded SQL required. Ability to work with department managers, professional staff, administrative staff and end users to develop System i applications from the design stage through implementation including project management and staff training.

Qualified applicants must be self-motivated with proven ability to work on significant projects, in teams with limited direct supervision, with extensive end-user interaction. Experience with automated FTP and encryption techniques. Experience developing documentation for System i (AS/400, i Series) systems programs and modules. Exposure with System i to Web programming tools and techniques highly desirable. Ability and willingness to perform all aspects of computer operations for System i. Must demonstrate excellent documentation skills, written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated mastery in managing multiple tasks in a constantly changing environment. Experience with legacy systems.

Knowledge and understanding of the American Labor Movement is desirable. There will be occasional travel to provide support to offsite locations.
