This position is responsible for designing, developing and unit testing TSDS (Texas Student Data Systems) web portal application enhancement. Developer will primarily modify and develop the web portal application, business rules, store procedures and web services using Websphere portal, Web services, XML and SQL.
Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Education: Graduation from an accredited four year college or university.
Experience: Five (5) years of experience to include: development of application using IBM Websphere Portal to develop web portal in Window and Oracle environment; development of large scale project using Java; development of SQL scripts, store procedures and package development in large scale database projects. Two (2) years of experience in working with XML application, preferred. Experience in development of business rules using JBoss is preferred. Experience in development of reports using Crystal Report is preferred. Strong knowledge of security consideration for a web site. Must possess solid oral and written communication skills.
Substitution: Each additional year of related experience above the required minimum may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):
Knowledge of: IBM Websphere portal to develop web portal Window Oracle XML application. Strong knowledge of security considerations for a web site. Knowledge of IBM TIM/TAM Security Software and how to integrate with other applications.
Skill in: Oral and written communication skills.
Ability to: Develop large scale projects using Java. Develop SQL scripts, store procedures and package development in large scale database projects; develop business rules using JBoss is preferred; and develop reports using Crystal Report is preferred.

Positions exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will earn compensatory time off rather than overtime for hours in excess of 40 per week. May be required to work hours other than 8 to 5. May be required to work weekends and holidays.
