Women for Women International Global Programs Unit is seeking 2 part-time interns this Fall to support the organization and preparations leading up to a Research and Evaluation Seminar that will be held in November 2013. The interns will be primarily responsible for leading and supporting the research, analysis, and literature reviews on the topics of 1) women’s entrepreneurship in post-conflict settings and 2) community-level impact of social and economic empowerment programs in post-conflict settings. These materials will be distributed as background papers to speakers and attendees in advance of the Research and Evaluation Seminar. In addition, the interns will assist with other program-related projects as they arise, based on their interest areas and needs of the department. The intern is expected to work up to 20 hours a week, and the internship is expected to last from 8 to 12 weeks, with the period between October and November leading up to the Seminar to be the most time-intensive.

Responsibilities:
  • A literature review on the topics of either 1) women’s entrepreneurship or 2) community-level impact of women’s social and economic empowerment programs
  • Support the organization of the Research and Evaluation Seminar
  • Assist with other program-related projects as the need arises

Qualifications:
  • Must be a current student in a Master’s or PhD program in international development, economics, social sciences, or related fields
Knowledgeable in the domains of development programming, gender, women’s economic empowerment, program evaluation, and issues related to conflict and post-conflict countries
  • Previous research experience in a related field required
  • Able to write technically
  • Conscientious, detail-oriented, and reliable
  • Willing to work independently with minimal supervision, and interdependently in a small team
  • Previous field experience desired
  • Passionate about women’s rights and gender equality
