MAIN JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain project-related records, including contracts and change orders
  • Project Budget Management and Reconciliation
  • Investigate project variances and submit variance reports to management
  • Validate supplier invoices related to a project
  • Verify and maintain change order estimate related to projects
  • Validate time sheets for work related to a project
  • Prepare account totals related to project assets and expenses
  • Close out project accounts upon project completion
  • Create and submit government reports and tax returns related to projects
  • Compile information for internal and external auditors, as required
  • Create project accounts in the accounting system
  • Validate the transfer of expenses into and out of project-related accounts
  • Fixed Assets Management
  • Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures
  • Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met
  • Prepare project management reports
  • Monitor the implementation and maintenance of accounting control procedures
  • Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities
  • Continuous management and support of project budget and forecast activities and variance analysis
  • Audit preparation and coordinate the audit process
  • Ensure accurate and appropriate recording and analysis of project related expenses
  • Analyze and advise on business operations including expenditure trends and financial commitments.
  • Analyze financial information to recommend or develop efficient use of resources and procedures, provide strategic recommendations and maintain solutions to business and financial problems
  • Regularly reports progress, updates and issues to the PMO
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Accounting degree
  • Detailed knowledge of project contracts and change order documents
  • Knowledge of accepted accounting practices and principles
  • Knowledge of project costing principles
  • Knowledge of auditing practices and principles
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, codes and regulations
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of MS Great Plains Version 10
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of MS Excel
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in the project accounting, tracking project budgets, financial reporting, project data analysis, auditing, taxation and providing financial advice
