The Project Director, in concert with the other members of the Project Leadership Team, the Principal-in-Charge, the Project Designer, and the Project Architect, shall provide overall day-to-day direction, administration, and management of the design team's efforts on the project. This project consists of approximately 900,000 square feet of new construction in Phase 1 with scheduled completion in 2016. The work will be performed at the client's Project Management Office site location. Leadership: Provides leadership for the successful execution and delivery of the project. Assists in preparing project presentations. May participate and/or lead client presentations. Responsible for construction document adherence to design intent as well as financial profitability of the project. Consistently provides complete and timely communication of project information to and from client and project team. Leads the negotiating of fees and contracts. Solves complex project issues by providing team support and assists in developing solutions to technical problems. Ensures Quality Management Program is initiated and adhered to through the life of the Project. Incorporates Integrated Sustainable Design solutions into the project. Fosters and maintains a collaborative professional working relationship within the Project Leadership Team. Management: Provide day-to-day administration and management of the project. Plans, organizes, and manages project team. Provides on-going communication through team meetings/minutes/up-date memos to project team. Assures project inter-disciplinary and quality control coordination. Responsible for managing project using the Deltek Vision system and Newforma Project Analyzer; completes work plans in Deltek; including identification of project team members, budget, consultants, schedule for completion, fees and costs as well as project change notices or other actions taking place on the assigned the project. Communicates with consultants, contractors, sub-consultants and other disciplines to ensure project details are carried out including technical issues and project information at all levels of contract administration. Monitors construction administration during the construction phase Develops and maintains positive relationships with consultants, contractors and jurisdictional/approval agencies. Client Interface: Responsible for maintaining client relationships throughout the project. Keeps client apprised of project progress on regular basis. Initiates and maintains contact with other key project individuals for clarification, coordination and negotiation of critical issues. Consults with client to determine function and spatial requirements and prepares information regarding design, specifications, materials, color, equipment, estimated costs, and construction time. Plans layouts of projects and integrates engineering elements into unified design for client review and approval. Staff Development: Defines staff requirements for the project as needed. Provides leadership including professional development coaching and mentoring staff. Bachelor's degree in architecture or equivalent in education or experience. Minimum 15 years' experience in architectural practice with prior management experience in all phases of projects through post-occupancy. More than 10 years of healthcare experience with a large architectural firm or division, with at least 2 years within a management/leadership role. Published and/or award winning projects a plus. Registered Architect with current license required. LEED AP or GA preferred, required within twelve months of employment. SKILLS & COMPETENCIES: Ability to effectively work in a team atmosphere. Ability to be flexible in multi-tasking and assignment adjustments. Able to demonstrate successful delivery of large, complex, multi-phase healthcare projects. Able to demonstrate proven and effective communication and leadership skills Strong knowledge of design, trends, construction methodology, material application, and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness. Advanced knowledge of architectural building systems. Advanced knowledge of sustainability, integrated design and LEED guidelines. Advanced knowledge of buildingSMART. Proficiency in MS Project preferred. Proficiency in Deltek Vision preferred. Proficient in Newforma Project Analyzer preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Understanding of 3D Modeling software such as Revit and Rhino as required of Project Leaders. Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign graphic software. Proficiency in NewForma Project Center preferred. Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing. Ability to work in team environment. Ability to effectively meet deadlines.
