Established in 1960, McKinstry is a full-service design, build, operate and maintain (DBOM) firm with over 1,600 employees. McKinstry"s professional staff and trades people deliver consulting, construction, energy, and facility services. While we are well known for our expertise in design build delivery, our full service offerings of mechanical, electrical, data and plumbing have been the hallmark of our success.
We are currently seeking a Project Director to join the team as a member of our growing South West Energy division. This person will be responsible for:
Project Management *
  • Work with clients and development staff to develop solutions that meet client needs *
  • Oversee all direct and indirect project-related activities *
  • Coordinate implementation handoffs between internal departments *
  • Deliver committed project objectives *
  • Transition project from implementation to Operations & Maintenance & Verification relationship *
  • Determine and deliver scope, schedule, budget, and margin targets to define project expectations *
  • Document and resolve customer service support and billing issues *
  • Deliver accurate and timely business reports
Communication *
  • Serve as primary point of contact with customer *
  • Inform internal and external customers of new offerings and upgrades *
  • Direct customer requests for product functionality enhancements to the appropriate people *
  • Make presentations to a variety of audiences; act as technical subject matter expert *
  • Report on financial status of project to stakeholders
Business Development *
  • Develop and maintain client relationships at a variety of levels *
  • Develop and define project strategies, goals and objectives *
  • Formulate business and sales strategy with team *
  • Generate preliminary assessments, technical solutions, fee proposals, presentations, studies, and other sales support and project development information and materials *
  • Maintain relationships with building owners, contractors, consultants and vendors within the industry *
  • Mitigate risk on behalf of the company
Team Management *
  • Coach and develop members of project team *
  • Form and lead successful project teams *
  • Mentor assigned project staff *
  • Manage cross functional teams *
  • Act as steward of McKinstry culture; communicate and influence policies and procedures
Qualified candidates will possess the following: *
  • Knowledge of: *
    • Construction management, energy calculations and industry standard efficiency improvement measures *
    • Performance contracting *
    • Financing options and utility incentives *
    • Contractual negotiations, procurement, knowledge *
  • Comfortable speaking in front of others, giving presentations *
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Project required; working knowledge of SharePoint preferred, knowledge of CRM a plus. *
  • BA/BS degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architecture or Facilities Management or equivalent field of study required. Fifteen (15) years of experience may substitute for education. *
  • Ten (10) years of engineering, construction, real estate and/or facility services project management experience required. *
  • CEM, PE, LEED, CPM professional designations are a plus.
  • Ability and willingness to travel. *
  • Provide personal transportation for meetings and job visits away from the office; reimbursed.
