Provide technical leadership and vehicle systems engineering perspective for a broad range of activities associated with the operation of the Atlas V launch system. Primary responsibilities will include leading teams for vehicle system engineering assessments, identifying and tracking technical issues and Launch Verification Matrix (LVM) task progress across the program, working with associated organizations in developing and maintaining engineering operations processes, and coordinating and participating in launch rehearsals and launch campaigns in leadership positions. Maintain cognizance of all contractor and subcontractor activities required to insure a flight-worthy system. Represent Aerospace Atlas V Operations as a vehicle systems engineer in meetings with contractors and customers, coordinating tasks and priorities with management as required. Offer technical consultation and advice to management, customers, and contractors regarding technical and programmatic issues, findings and recommendations. Prepare briefings and report mission specific assessments for internal/external reviews. Provide direct support to the Atlas V Chief Systems Engineer to ensure that Atlas V Chief Engineer’s Review Board (ChERB) and Aerospace launch readiness verification processes are effectively applied to DOD Atlas V launches.

BS in engineering or science; advanced degree preferred. Minimum twelve years of applicable experience with space and launch systems required, preferably spanning design, development, test, verification and operations. Exposure to and understanding of typical manufacturing and production issues related to space flight hardware. Demonstrated abilities to proactively apply a broad set of skills to work diverse problems is highly desired, as is acute technical insight, seasoned problem solving skills, and maturity of judgment. Proven record of working with diverse teams, especially as related to anomaly and failure investigations. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of customer, contractor and Aerospace personnel. DoD Secret security clearance is required; active TS/SBI clearance is preferred.
