The Project Engineer will serve as a technical lead supporting project and technical managers on proposing, planning, and delivering CERCLA-related MMRP and RCRA investigation projects to our Federal, State, and commercial clientele. The successful candidate will work with and support the integration of geophysicists, Geographic Information System specialists, munitions constituent scientists, and UXO Teams to ensure program and project objectives are being achieved safely and at a high level of quality. The Project Engineer will possess an independent ability to problem solve and provide technically acceptable, cost-effective solutions while directing and overseeing junior staff members in the field and in the office.
Position will be located in our Norfolk, VA office
Additional duties related to this position include:
•Coordinates the design development of implementation systems and/or assists in providing technical direction to the scope of projects; provides technical know-how and experiences on all project aspects.
•Carries out project duties as established by the Project Manager. The objective is to produce a result (monitoring, data, analysis and conclusions, final report, recommendations, etc.) which satisfies the client's needs.
•Leads field efforts for sampling of all type of media in all levels of protection.
•Leads the preparation of safety plans, work plans, and other documents such as an ESS, ESP, UFP-QAPP, TPP presentations, after action reports, etc.
•Coordinates and leads field efforts for surveying, geophysical mapping, intrusive investigations and media sampling.
•Familiarity with Visual Sample Plan (VSP) and UXO Estimator.
•Responsible for cost tracking and contractor oversight in the field.
B.S. degree in engineering, geology, or related field with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of industry experience or M.S. degree in the same disciplines with a minimum of 1 to 3 years of industry experience.
Must have direct experience in a variety of environmental response operations, such as sampling, assessments, lab coordination, and document preparation.
Current experience on Military Munitions Response Program (MMRP) projects is desired.
Professional registration is preferred (P.E. or P.G.) or adequate progress toward achieving registration is required.
Demonstrated leadership experience in CERCLA-related MMRP projects for the DoD from Site Inspection to Remedial Action.
HTRW experience is a plus.
Experience operating geophysics equipment is a plus.
Must have strong communication skill (verbal and written); field work capability; good organization ability; data analysis; compatibility with other workers; and demonstrated ability to carry out independent original scientific work.
