Project Engineering Technician

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position involves organizing and maintaining project data. The incumbent in this position will work closely with internal and external clients and personnel to ensure all applicable policies and procedures are followed. This position includes working with the applicable Engineer/Project Manager to ensure compliance and completion of engineering projects. Duties include engineering design, drafting, review of plans and development of the project.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs a variety of assignments within a framework of established procedures and without close supervision, including drafting, typing, filing, and records management

Files documents, maintains computerized and manual records, and compiles data for general information purposes and individual requests for special reports

Compares, processes, or maintains a variety of reports and documents

Assists Engineer/Project Manager in master plan preparations

Helps in preparation of cost quote estimates for military base construction projects

Creates detailed maps and drawings appropriate for dissemination to Fort Bragg and field operations that effectively communicate design and spatial information.

Assist with drafting for Capital projects using AutoCAD, Microstation and/or ArcGIS based on verbal instructions or sketches provided by Engineers.

Reviews pre-design reports, construction plans and specifications to ensure that the engineering designs meet company requirements

As directed, gathers financial data and assists in preparation of schedules for new construction proposals at subsidiary

Helps to ensure adherence with policies designed to help maintain regulatory compliance

Identifies and helps develop process improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness of current activities

Assists in preparation of internal and external audit activities as required

Provides technical expertise to staff and other team members related, but not limited to, regulatory and engineering matters

Required Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent, or no less than 5 years of experience in the area of Civil design

Knowledge of engineering concepts, policies, requirements and regulations required

Ability to train other Engineering Technicians

Proficient in the use of AutoCAD, Microstation, and ArcGIS

Proficient in the use of computerized office equipment and programs (e.g. MS Office, MS XP, MS Windows, Adobe products)

Ability to read water and wastewater plans.

Demonstrated ability in reading, writing, typing, speaking and understanding the English language.

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License issued by the state where employed.

Must take and pass Federal OSHA and or State Mandated Safety training with annual refresher courses as required by the associated regulations for this Position. Such training will be provided by company and compliance is mandatory.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS MAY INCLUDE:
Standing, other climbing, walking, lifting up to 20 lbs., bending, pulling and/or pushing, grasping, reaching, stooping and crouching, sitting, and walking all for extended periods of time.

Ability to research, interpret and compile analytical data
