PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
This Project Lead position will primarily support project development activities for Retirement Plan Services (RPS) Operations. Working under general direction, the Project Leader manages multiple systems, applications development and/or business process projects and solutions. Responsible for partnering with the business in order to consult and develop solutions that meet their needs. Provides direction to the project team in order to ensure alignment with business and project objectives. The Project Leader may be assigned to manage a major subsystem or solution development project, and/or a moderately sized independent project.
Develops project definition in partnership with the business sponsors and the Project Manager for multiple, concurrent projects or one large project with multiple deliverables or components. Defines the project constraints and deliverables. Develops or provides input to the project schedule, adjusts the project schedule, and manages the schedule performance to the project plan schedule. Leads project from inception to final business acceptance and implementation. In addition, progress against the plan will be reported to the business and Project Manager on a periodic basis.
Estimates staff resource needs for analysts, developers, business users, and consultants. Works with Project Manager to assign resources to meet project objectives for the multiple, concurrent projects or one large project with multiple deliverables or components being managed. Estimates material and other resource needs to meet project objectives. Provides input to the Project Manager for project budgets and manages expenditures to project plan budget.
Prepares or reviews project documentation and deliverables and assures it is complete, acceptable and in accordance with standards. Facilitates project status meetings with the project team on a regular basis and provides status to the Project Manager. Provides updates and feedback to clients on progress.
Directly and indirectly manages a team of solutions analysts and/or developers in the development and implementation of solutions and applications across the firm. Provides coaching and mentoring to staff in order to deliver quality service and solutions to business customers. Monitors and motivates team members work performance through coaching, one on ones, and development planning. Writes and delivers performance reviews.
Develops or provides input to the project Risk Plan and Mitigation Strategy and manages project risks throughout the project. Manages project Issues and Change Control Requests to resolution.
Working knowledge of Defined Contribution recordkeeping activities.
OmniPlus functional and system knowledge.
College degree in technical area or business preferred
7 to 10 years of technology work experience including 3 years of people management experience and 4 or more years of managing projects preferred
Experience with projects in multiple technologies and functions preferred
Experience in the Financial Services Industry preferred
Prior experience as a Senior Solutions Analyst or as a Senior Programmer Analyst preferred
College degree and 4 years of related work experience, or Associate degree and 6 years related work experience, or High School diploma/equivalent and 8 years related work experience
Ability to work well with people with varying technical abilities
Ability to translate technical concepts into non-technical terms
Ability to manage medium to complex product development projects
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated successful mastery of major components of the solutions lifecycle development methodology in the context of major systems implementations
Prior experience executing project discovery and investigation, including development of a Cost-Benefit Analysis for a project of moderate size
Must be able to meet with clients of varying levels
Demonstrated high level of analytical and problem solving skills
Strong negotiation and influencing skills
Extensive experience with process reengineering
Mastery of testing concepts and skilled in managing system testing initiatives
Strong knowledge of business processes related to business channel supported
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excel and Microsoft Access experience
Experience with MS Project
