This position will provide OSP engineering and construction support for the Central Florida region (i.e. Tampa, St. Pete, Orlando and Daytona).

Responsible for the completion of outside plant engineering and construction projects to include the management of budgetary, resourcing, and scheduling requirements. Position will direct, initiate, perform, and/or coordinate activities necessary to provide design, analysis, implementation, support, maintenance, operation and change management services for telecommunications systems and networks to meet end user needs. Position requires in-depth knowledge of telecommunication industry construction standards; permitting agency policies and procedures; OSHA safety requirements; and Federal, State, and local rules and regulations pertaining to the construction and installation of telecommunication systems.

Position will be responsible for developing cost-effective solutions in the assigned area where no precedent has been established.

Duties:
ü

Responsible for the overall engineering and construction of each project within an assigned geographical area

o

Determine scope, budget, and implementation schedule for OSP Projects

o

Perform construction of OSP infrastructure according to industry- and company-defined standards

o

Develop engineering specifications and follow engineering standards for assigned projects

o

Communicate project status to Managers on weekly basis

o

Monitor and control expenses within allotted budget

o

Secure state and local permits to execute OSP projects

o

Establish strategy for establishing entrance facilities into targeted locations with building owners/customers

o

Define critical project milestones and ensure deliverables are met

o

Complete the assigned projects within the defined scope and timelines

o

Maintain safety and security of OSP facility

ü

Perform site surveys for pre- and post-sales activities identifying the most economical method for construction

ü

Perform route analysis and develop aerial and underground fiber route maps for projects and Sales team requests

ü

Develop mitigation and restoration procedures for emergencies conditions such as fiber damages, power failures and other disasters

ü

Ensure OSP records for assigned area are updated and accurate

ü

Review all FDOT and individual municipality road plans for clearing or conflict resolution

ü

Represent FPL FiberNet, LLC as the prime customer and governmental agency contact for all engineering and construction issues within the assigned area.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Construction, Project Management, Engineering, or other related field or equivalent work experience of 5 years or more.

Advanced knowledge is required in the following items: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, MS Powerpoint AutoCAD, and Google Earth/Maps;

Knowledge of OSPInsight and SAP is a plus;

Experience with construction project management of telecommunications facilities within Florida and Texas is preferred;

Strong organizations skills and ability to multi-task;

Strong relationship building skills; existing relationships with Florida-based and Texas-based permitting agencies is a plus; and

Highly competent in communication skills, presentation skills, budgeting and forecasting.
