Overall Purpose

The Technical Project Manager role provides an opportunity to work within a global team of highly skilled technical professionals, providing consultancy, development, architecture and operational services to our client(s).

This role is Cincinnati-based but is part of the New York-based client engagement team’s

Process, Business Integration, and Solutions Scaling

function.

The group is comprised of Process Consultants, Project Managers, and the engagement’s Program Manager. Together, the team’s purpose is to increase the utilization of customer insights across the client’s business by making the application of customer data more universally available and position it as an important, useful, and easy to access source of data.

The purpose of this role is to manage and deploy successfully data services and application development projects that meet client business objectives.

The Technical Project Manager will act as the authority on development projects within the client engagement supports Data Services Group, US Products Team, and NYC-based Process Team associates dedicated to the client engagement.

Potential candidates must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment and in a culture that fosters passion, curiosity, collaboration, and courage in an evolving corporate and global organisation.

This person will be challenged to hit the ground running and assume ownership of data services and application deployment projects.

The Project Manager must strike the appropriate balance between too much structure and not enough, ensuring a level of detail sufficient to align activities across multiple work threads to business objective in order to achieve success.

Role Objective and Accountability

The Technical Project Manager will be responsible for planning and managing the successful development and deployment of technology projects for our client engagement.

This person ensures project deliverables are in line with business objectives, time, budget, scope, and quality constraints and aligns ways of working are aligned across the various dunnhumby functions, client teams, and client stakeholders involved.

Specific to the client engagement, the Technical Project Manager

supports the Data Services, Application Development, and Process Team solutions scaling initiatives and works directly with the client’s IT Project Management counterparts to ensure seamless solution deployment.

Successful candidates are proactive and demonstrate highly-skilled project management expertise, strong technical acumen, and the ability to balance detailed complexities against an understanding of the big picture.

Lastly, excellent communication at all levels within the project environment, strong leadership qualities, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic and a geographically disbursed project environment is required.

Responsibilities:
·

Provide highly skilled technical project management support to the Data Delivery, Application Development, and Process Team project leads dedicated to the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of data services and scalable client solutions

·

Manage multiple technical projects that tie to an overall Solutions program for our client, coordinating with Program Manager and project managers across internal and external teams

·

Specific responsibilities related to the client engagement:
­

Own and maintain the Project Manager (PM) Log, Data Roadmap

­

Manage regular interactions with Client Project Management and technology teams to determine project priority, scope, and timelines

­

Ensure Data Roadmap projects are aligned to statement of work initiatives and technical project dependencies are identified

­

Track and monitor related Core Delivery and Data Solutions Group (DSG) projects

­

Develop and execute plans for testing, solution deployment, and support model ensuring that process controls and failure points are identified

and that contingency plans are established with the appropriate governance

­

Partner with the Process Team to define and document functional requirements and the technical teams to define the technical requirements, managing the change control process, and development phasing

Project Management responsibilities:
­

Define project charters, objectives, scope, approach, milestones, deliverables, and change control procedures ensuring these are clearly defined and manageable

­

Recommend appropriate project team structures and ensure that assigned resources are capable and properly equipped to complete assigned tasks

­

Identify and manage dependencies across all project stakeholders and contributors, within a project and between projects

­

Surface risks and issues and determine when to escalate, take ownership, and steward the necessary conversations to resolve providing advice on available options

­

Ensure that accurate risk assessments are prepared and communicated to the appropriate stakeholders

­

Deliver accurate and timely project status reporting that provides centralized visibility and effective status communications to internal and external stakeholders

­

Establish and invoke project governance to ensure appropriate project oversight, timely escalation and resolution of issues, and productive cross functional interactions, and adequate contingency planning

­

Define control/critical failure points and develop appropriate contingency plans assigning process ownership and defining procedures and clearly communicating the conditions under which contingencies are to be invoked

­

Establish and maintain the project time reporting structure in support of program reporting, estimation, and budgeting

Keep abreast of dunnhumby and external project and program management best practices and ensure that all teams are using the best tools and processes available

Build trusted partnerships with internal stakeholders and client partners

Key Job Requirements, Skills, and Core Competencies

Job Requirements:
·

Bachelor’s Degree required; degree in business information systems or

information technology related field preferred

·

PMP certification, or equivalent professional project management certification

·

At least 2 years of Technical Project Management experience managing projects in the data management and/or application development space with a proven track record of delivering commercial/client-focused technical projects

·

Experience in software system design, selection, and/or implementation projects, including the definition of functional requirements is helpful

·

Experience with retail, consumer markets, or retail banking company or client helpful

·

Experience with both Waterfall and Agile development techniques including iterative development, refactoring, unit testing, automated build tools

·

Experience implementing project management processes in a medium or large organisation
