Duties And Responsibilities

& Minimum Requirements:
This is a full time position to be supported by research grants. The Research Specialist 2 will have responsibility for managing at least a large, complex, multi-site, federally- funded outcomes research grant and oversee sophisticated data collection and coordination covering 6000+ cancer patients recruited from multiple nationwide study sites. As the Research Specialist 2 of the coordinating center, serves as study operational contact and liaison to data collection site investigators and staff and external vendors. The incumbent will lead the coordination effort and day-to-day study operations. The Project Manager will be the primary catalyst to drive completion of project tasks/subtasks and will be responsible for oversight, training and task management of the project’s in-house research staff support team. The manager will contribute to the development of and facilitate the review process of critical study start-up documents (study protocol, data collection surveys, and study operations/procedures manuals). The Research Specialist 2 is responsible for ensuring that the projects conducted are of the highest data quality and integrity. The Project Manager is responsible for working closely with software development staff (internal and external) to produce a sophisticated, web-based platform used to track and store study data collected nationwide and to produce comprehensive study progress and metric reports. The Research Specialist 2 is expected to collaborate and troubleshoot, as required, with in-house and external project team to develop creative, efficient, cost-effective solutions to project hurdles. Manager interacts with Georgetown Counsel, Regulatory Affairs, GUMC/LCCC senior clinicians/administrative and financial staff, Cancer Prevention and Control Program senior faculty, collaborating investigators and representatives of funding agency, as required. The incumbent is responsible for working with PI and administrative staff to oversee budget and related study activities. The projects have a substantial amount of data and will require significant attention to detail, data quality, and ability to multi-task. The incumbent will need to have had experience in conducting primary data collection; experience managing data important. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and must have the ability to plan, organize and prioritize multiple tasks and have the ability to deal effectively and professionally with a variety of persons.
