Per S|Engineering and Technicalhas an immediate need for a(n) Project Manager at our client, a Construction Contractor in North Chicago. This is a DIRECT HIREposition.
Position Description
Plans, directs and coordinates activities of designated project to ensure that goals or objectives of project are accomplished within prescribed timeframe and funding parameters.
Reviews project proposal or plan to determine timeframe, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project. To install active, rather than reactive, style of management.
Reviews Contract Agreement with Client to understand all aspects of the work to be performed, and all terms and conditions governing the work. Ultimately responsible for administering the work under the terms of the Agreement, including issuing all required documentation and notifications protecting the interests of the company and managing the risk exposures encountered.
Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of project, arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnel, and breaks down the project into achievable, teachable tasks.
Responsible for ensuring job tool and equipment mobilization occurs in a timely and efficient fashion.
Confers with project staff to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, scope of authority, and assigning specific responsibilities to individuals and proper chain of command.
Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget, ensuring that everyone always has the information, tools, materials and cooperation he needs to do his job.
Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel and modifies schedules or plans as required.
Prepares project reports for management, client or others, including, but not limited to cost projections, manpower projections, and project schedules.
Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems, and encourage team ingenuity and imagination.
May coordinate project activities with activities of government, regulatory or other agencies.
Manages operations to facilitate the use of human and automated resources to achieve maximum productivity and profitability.
Reviews ongoing performance results and identifies needs of employees. Implements coaching or mentoring partnerships as appropriate.
Maintains a favorable working relationship with all employees to promote a cooperative and harmonious working environment in order to facilitate positive employee morale, productivity and continued improvement.
Communicates clearly and directly with employees concerning performance expectations, productivity and accountability.
Responsible for suggesting methods to improve area operations, processes, efficiency and service to both internal and external customers.
Develops employees for future advancement when possible.
Position Requirements

Bachelors Degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university, or five (5) or more years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze and interpret contract plans and specifications, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
Mathmatical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts, such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Ability to work with mathematical concepts, such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts, such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish fact and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to review job progress, develop status reports and create accurate cost for completion.
