Exp is currently searching for a Project Safety Manager, located in Houston, TX that will report to the Regional Safety Manager and be responsible for the implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of safety programs for assigned projects. Active involvement in the field is required to ensure safety is appropriately considered with each work task.
Principle Areas of Responsibility:
Ensures applicable training is administered in accordance to company policies and procedures.
Ensures all work activities are completed in accordance with applicable site specific safety plans, policies and procedures.
Oversees and guides construction contractor’s performance to meet company and client expectations relative to safety based on the company’s HSE Commitment and HSE Management System.
Provides field oversight of assigned projects and contractors performance relative to safety by leading the development, implementation and continuous improvement of safety plans, audits, incident investigations and management of issues, etc.
Delivers project safety training and provides materials.
Participates in project incident investigations.
Recommends changes to company and contractor safety programs based on audit results, inspection results, incident reports, trending and analysis of leading and lagging safety performance indicators.
Recommends changes to safety management plans based on project performance.
Directs and administers existing safety policies and procedures.
Creates and distributes safety propaganda based on work activities, associated hazards and incident trends.
Acts as liaison with contractor safety management personnel.
Represents the company and client in all matters pertaining to the safety of assigned projects.
May supervise safety specialists or other safety personnel assigned to a project.

Knowledge of the concept, principle and practices of management.
Knowledge of and ability to identify safety hazards and necessary safety precautions to establish a safe work environment.
Knowledge of federal, state and local safety regulations, protocols and procedures as they pertain to chemical, hazardous waste, industrial hygiene or environmental health standards.
Skill in preparing clear and concise reports, procedures, correspondences, and other written materials.
Education & Experience:
Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in Safety Engineering, Industrial Health & Safety or a related field with a minimum of two (2) years of related project and field safety management experience OR a high school diploma or equivalency with a minimum of six (6) years of related project and field safety management experience.
Certification in safety training and management is preferred and may substitute for experience.
