The Production Software Engineering group is responsible for design and specification and implementation for ESPN technical facilities design projects that require the use of new or undeveloped software. This includes integrating with 3rd party hardware / software / APIs, as well as developing user applications to facilitate production workflows. It is also responsible for identifying and exploring new production methods and workflow/productivity improvement opportunities, and for oversight/execution of all software development projects associated with the integration of the traditional broadcast media infrastructure with ESPN’s Digital Media content production infrastructure.

This is a project position with an estimated length of 2 years.
Implementation of the software development lifecycle of the assigned applications and application components; with the focus toward design, development and testing. May participate in maintenance,prototyping and analysis. Creates and maintains project technical documentation in accordance to the standards set forth by the architectural team. Assignments often require the interpretation and dissemination of highly complex information. Recommendation of new technologies, products and innovations. Provides feedback for the development of detailed project plans and schedules for assigned projects. Troubleshoots complex system problems providing diagnosis and resolution. Assists in the build and deployment of applications. Participates in the training of end users and other staff in the use of new and enhanced applications.
Solid understanding in the development highly effective and responsive systems in Java. Strong knowledge of currently available products, technologies, and solutions that should be analyzed for potential application to ESPN’s systems. Ability to assist in the growth and mentoring of other software engineers, in developing, accurate, reliable and robust solutions that meet design specifications and anticipate future uses and enhancements. Advanced experience in design and implementation on the JEE platform. Advanced of Object-Oriented analysis, design, and development. UML and object modeling.
