Position Overview
Education Pioneers seeks a Project and Systems Manager, National Admissions and Placement to oversee our efforts to select and place a racially and socioeconomically diverse cadre of leaders into the Graduate School Fellowship and Analyst Fellowship. Reporting to the Director of Talent Strategy and Placement and managing two Associates, the Manager will be responsible for building, growing, and managing our systems and processes for selecting talented leaders and connecting them with education reform organizations across the country. As Education Pioneers expands its Fellowship programs, this individual will play a key role in building the infrastructure necessary to achieve ambitious growth goals. While a small portion of this role will involve direct interaction with Fellowship applicants, the majority of the Manager’s responsibilities will focus on internal systems and processes. Successful candidates will be detail-oriented operational thinkers with strong project and people management skills and an ability to quickly pick up new technologies and systems.

Primary Responsibilities (include but are not limited to the following):

People Management

  • Directly manage, support, develop, and evaluate two Admissions and Placement Associates
  • Work with Associates to set and realize individual performance and professional development goals and growth plans; identify training opportunities to fill potential gaps
  • Hire, train, and manage a team of consultants, including 5-10 application and exercise screeners and 25+ Alumni interviewers, to support candidate evaluation throughout the admissions process

Process Design, Management, and Implementation

  • Develop and manage all aspects of our multi-step process to select talented leaders for our Graduate School Fellowship and Analyst Fellowship
  • Create activities, rubrics, and other tools to evaluate candidates at all stages of our admissions process, including online application and exercise, in-depth interview, and group interview
  • Develop national process and resources to support regional teams to place Fellows with Partner organizations across all programs
  • Work with regional teams to set targets for and track results on admissions and placement metrics; plan and conduct regular check-ins with regional teams to discuss progress and problem solve challenges
  • Develop and lead training to prepare staff across the organization to execute key stages of the admissions and placement process, including conducting interviews, facilitating group interviews, and placing Fellows with Partner organizations
  • Oversee technical systems for all components of our admissions and placement process
  • Maintain applicant and placement data in Salesforce to ensure data integrity and accurate, efficient reporting capabilities
  • Develop and manage tracking and projection tools to monitor talent and project pipelines and forecast Fellow numbers; adjust admissions efforts as needed to meet regional talent needs
  • Lead annual efforts to analyze admissions and placement data, evaluate processes, and recommend and implement changes as needed
  • Plan, execute, evaluate, and expand pilot projects to improve admissions and placement processes

Experience and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate is an excellent project manager and strong problem solver with exceptional relationship building, communication, and critical thinking skills. The individual must be able to develop and implement efficient and effective processes and manage a robust workload with multiple priorities. The ideal candidate should also possess a strong interest in a career in education reform and human capital.

Key Qualifications include:

  • 5 – 7 years of relevant professional experience; may include formal admissions and selection work, extensive project management (strongly preferred), and process/systems design and improvement
  • Experience managing at least one, fulltime direct report
  • Experience successfully managing multiple projects in a fast-paced, goals-oriented environment
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Strong undergraduate academic record and leadership experience
  • Proven organizational skills and careful attention to detail
  • Strong relationship-building skills
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written); demonstrated ability to design, lead, and facilitate effective events and trainings
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
