Under moderate supervision, investigates, evaluates, negotiates and settles minor to moderate first party and third party property claims in a timely and efficient manner as to prevent unnecessary expense to the Company. Contacts with involved parties are made primarily through written and telephone communication. Provides complete, courteous, and timely customer service to aid in the settlement process and maintain customer satisfaction. Maintains diary of files in pending and updates file information to ensure accurate record of claims; continually review and monitor progress and expense of claims in pending.

Investigates claims by obtaining relevant loss information from insureds, witnesses, and other interested parties, through the use of statements, police reports, etc. Evaluates the extent of loss based on investigation and review of coverage determinations. Evaluates homeowner and commercial property damage of minor to moderate complexity; reviews cost of repair estimate. Establishes reserve amounts within prescribed settlement authority limit and negotiates settlement of claims; refers claims which exceed personal authority limit to manager with recommendation. Ensure payments are issued and obtain appropriate releases for adjusted claims; close claim files according to Company procedures.

Worker characteristics are normally acquired through the successful completion of a Bachelor's degree (BA, BS) and no experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Successful completion of in-house training program required.

Prior property experience preferred.

Written and verbal communication skill to effectively and professionally negotiate with insureds, public adjusters, vendors, attorneys, etc.

Requires some exercise of independent judgment which may have a significant impact on the Company in areas such as costs, consumer loyalty, and legal complications.

Knowledge of established Company policies and procedures, with emphasis in claims operations.

Requires critical attention to detail and good organizational skills to manage a high volume of claims.

Work is of a technical nature and requires the analytical ability necessary to analyze, interpret and evaluate relevant information essential in resolving first-party property claims.

Able to interact cordially with other employees to accomplish common tasks.

Able to adhere to the regular work schedule.
