Property Staff Accountant

The Provide the expertise that ensures effective and efficient support of the hospitality corporate accounting function. Responsibilities include general oversight of assigned processes within the Ultima property monthly and quarterly close process. This includes preparation of journal entries, monthly and quarterly balance sheet account reconciliations as well as financial statement analytics. Additional responsibilities include assisting in the enhancement of internal controls and participating in special projects that incorporate a wide range of accounting exposure.

Provides confidential support within the accounting function including, but not limited to:

Accounting for operating and restricted cash, intercompany debt and notes receivable and related profit and loss impact.

Fielding and resolving inquiries from management and external auditors

Preparation of monthly journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations.

Preparation of monthly analyticals over significant account balances.

Assist with the optimization of accounting procedures and special projects, as required.

Review property monthly financial reports prepared by Ultima or third party property managers and investigate unusual balances and transactions

Prepare and analyze cash projections to assist in determining the equity needs of properties

Prepare quarterly and annually consolidated comparative Income Tax and GAAP basis financial statement package

Prepare financial results and cash projections monthly which are presented to the Executive Committee

Compile financial results monthly, quarterly and annually which are reported to individual and institutional investors

Review income, expense, deferred leasing and capital purchases for accurate coding and payment. Resolve issues with Property General Manager or other departments as necessary.

Perform budget and re-projection input, and analysis.

Ability to conduct site-visits to assist with acquisitions/divestiture and/or internal audits

Additional basic skills such as:

Make recommendations to existing processes to help streamline work and efficiency

Basic business acumen for this role includes:

Advanced Excel skill set, used to compile data into statistical overviews and legible graphs, developing such tools as pivot or dynamic tables, macros, graphs, conditional formatting, lookup references and data filters.

Bachelor’s Degree in related field (Accounting, Finance)

CPA considered a Strong Asset

2+ years progressive accounting experience, preferably in the hospitality industry

Previous experience with M3 considered a Strong Asset

Ability to travel, travel is less than 20%

Superior communication skills, written & verbal

Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and manage time effectively

Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
