This position supports MTS-Federal division by engaging in proposal development, proposal authoring, and the timely production of proposal responses to Federal Government and requests for proposals (RFPs), quotes, bids. Reporting to the Proposal Center Team Leader and Deputy Business Development Manager, the Proposal Coordinator will be responsible to manage and produce winning proposals in response to customer RFPs ensuring a strategic proposal management focus. MTS proposals are largely in response to Federal, DoD and Commercial RFPs for voice, VoIP, optical transport, cabling/distribution, on-going maintenance services and engineered solutions, with an emphasis on IT/telecommunications technologies, capabilities and services.

Specific Duties
  • Support Black Box-World Wide Federal in the development, preparation, and presentation of written proposals
  • Manage and produce winning proposals, including multi-volume large-effort proposals and small and medium proposals as needed
  • Responsible for proposal organization, flow, writing/editing quality assurance, and overall proposal management
  • Analyze RFP documents, develop compliant, customer-friendly outlines/compliance matrices
  • Direct other proposal authors for writing sections, including content and deadline adherence
  • Coordinate activities with Capture Management, Contracts, Engineering, Pricing and other support functions to ensure a fully-compliant bid response
  • Write, edit, and direct proposal sections and authors as defined by outline, contributing to win themes, executive summaries, graphics, and strategy
  • Ability to edit or rewrite sections of proposals to ensure readability and compliance, without distorting the author's original intent
  • Edit and re-writes for flow, grammar, and readability as one voice
  • Verify that response is consistent with solicitation proposal instructions, response format and structure
  • Take proposal through review processes, ensuring each change is fully complete and inserted as applicable
  • Manage proposal meetings, action items, calendar, master proposal document
  • Supports production of the proposal (binders, spines, covers, dividers, boxing, packaging, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Proven planning and organization skills with multiple, competing deadlines
  • Detailed oriented, works well under pressure, ability to multi-task effectively
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Experience managing and writing proposal efforts in response to government RFPs
  • Ability to analyze information and make recommendations
  • Strong proficiency in editing, proofreading, and word processing
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project, Visio etc.)
  • Familiarity with voice/telephony/VoIP systems is a plus
  • Familiarity with U.S. military and/or federal contracting is a plus
  • A valid driver’s license is required

Education and/or Experience
  • B.S./B.A. degree in communications or related field and applicable experience
  • 2-5 years' experience in marketing or proposal writing within the federal, municipal or commercial marketplace
  • Proven track record in proposal management and winning new business with proposals
  • Experience working on large, complex government proposal documents
  • Effective oral, written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Shipley training, APMP certification, familiarity with DoD and/or federal contracting is a plus
