This position will work alongside current Preaward Contract Specialists to collaborate with PIs across the entire UNC Research Community to develop, review, and approve proposals for sponsored research projects. This will include funding opportunities, the structuring and development of specific grant proposals, creation and review of grant and contract budgets, and working collaboratively to ensure that grant and contract proposals are complete and ready for submission. This position will work collaboratively to ensure that grant and contract proposals meet all applicable sponsor, governmental, and university guidelines.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or related business area; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Candidate must have the ability to work in a collaborative fashion with PIs, their support staff, and other grants/research staff inside and outside UNC -CH. Strong verbal and written communication skills and outstanding problem solving abilities are required. Strong dedication to and demonstration of customer service is also required. Position requires attention to detail and ability to prioritize high volume work load and ability to work under pressure in a deadline driven environment.
Prefer candidates who have at least year of pre-award grant/research administration experience, preferably in the proposal development and submission areas. Prefer candidates with previous experience using UNC financial and accounting systems.
