ESI is actively recruiting for an experienced Proposal Writer with exceptional interpersonal, communication and project management skills. This is a critical role integrated in the Commercial Business Unit (CBU) and across regions (Americas, Europe and the Middle East and Asia-Pacific). This is an exciting opportunity for a business-minded professional to impact the global organization with a strategic lens of positioning ESI as a trusted business advisor. Through impeccable presentation infusing creative business writing and appropriate marketing messaging, the Proposal Writer will successfully manage the end-to-end proposal process for the global ESI CBU sales team. The position oversees; the RFP analysis, coordination of the cross-functional proposal team roles and responsibilities, and authors, formats and edits proposal content. This is an exciting opportunity to work both independently and in a team environment, demonstrating excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
The ideal candidate will assume ownership of the proposal function, including the management of an on-line proposal authoring tool, the development and maintenance of a content library and the continuous improvement of the proposal process.
Analyzing RFPs to determine proposal requirements, developing the proposal outline/framework and documenting/communicating task owners and due dates
Setting realistic deadlines and coordinating and tracking proposal document preparation while maintaining flexibility based on resource constraints
Collaborating on "win" strategy, themes, discriminators, and value propositions
Collaborating with Curriculum Development subject matter experts to build a solution that responds to the requirements specified in solicitation documents
Collaborating with the Legal Department to ensure alignment to or clarification of RFP terms and conditions
Writing compelling and persuasive solution descriptions
Providing leadership and encouraging teamwork in developing customer focused proposals
Framing graphics necessary to uniquely demonstrate ESI’s solution
Building and maintaining proposal and reference repositories for reuse and historical purposes
Collecting metrics to measure the status and outcome of proposal responses and share competitive pricing data in support of cost/price proposal development
Working closely in collaboration with the ESI global marketing teams to maintain and improve ESI’s messaging platform to incorporate insights garnered from win / loss debriefs
Regularly analyze results from RFP / Proposal activities, prepare quarterly reports on requirement trends, win / loss results and provide recommendations to senior management on strategies to improve conversion rates
Overall professional skills, such as the ability to collaborate, communicate and manage relationships well are essential. Exceptional organization skills, time management and attention to detail are required.
Excellent written and verbal communications, interpersonal and organizational skills
Prior experience with government contracting, including working knowledge of the FAR, DFARs preferred
Project Managerial Skills
Demonstrated advanced knowledge of Word
Basic knowledge of SharePoint, PowerPoint and Excel
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
Proven attention to details
Demonstrated ability to review and understand Requests for Proposals
Ability to effectively interface with a variety of ESI departments
Knowledge of ESI’s business, operations, procedures and systems a plus
Undergraduate degree in Business, English, Education or a related field
More than three years of proposal writing experience.
A sales background is desired but not required.
