(a.) Performing rocket/missile motor and component analyses such as torsional stability analysis, steady-state and transient thermal/stress/life analysis, vibration/dynamic analysis, performance analysis, and solid motor installed performance analysis.
(b.) Capability to perform propulsion system/motor and motor installation, control system functional, technical and safety analysis support and assessment for design, test, performance compliance, life and qualification compliance.
(c.) Provide assessments on all aspects of propulsion systems.
(d.) Provide an engineering capability in propulsion to include:
1. Manufacturing, fabrication, design, engineering analysis, electrical/electronics, vibration, modal analysis, dynamic simulation, test, systems integration and assembly of components, subsystems, and systems.
2. Mechanical property tests and analyses of energetic and inert materials.
3. Electrical, structural, engineering and ballistic tests, analysis, hardware integration, computer hardware integration and programming.
(e.) Provide technical expertise in propellant processing and maintenance of propellant formulation and processing equipment.
(f.) Establish recommended qualification requirements, review test plans, monitor testing and review results from motor qualification testing.
(g.) Provide engineering expertise for solid motor integration into a launch vehicle or missile.
(h.) Perform propulsion subsystem (fuel, hydraulics, and environmental control) functional and analytical support to include component or system design, test or performance compliance.
(i.) Perform propulsion system functional and analytical support to include structural integrity, service life, and Insensitive Munitions (IM) test design, testing, data reduction and analyses.
Minimum Required Technical Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and 5 or more years' experience, or Master's degree with 3 or more years' experience or PhD degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering or physics from ABET accredited institutions are preferred, although not required.
The candidate should have experience in providing a broad-based research, development, and systems
engineering capability in propulsion systems and technologies. This will include propulsion expertise for solid, gel, or hybrid motors and motor installation, and supporting propulsion sub-systems including hardware and software.
Experience in NASA, Missile Defense or Army Aviation Programs is preferred.
US citizenship is required to perform this work and in some cases a government clearance. References may be requested. Travel may be required in some cases.
