Engineers design and implement embedded software for new networking protocols, data center and enterprise features, and new hardware support for Extreme’s modular Linux based networking OS, called ExtremeXOS. ExtremeXOS runs on every Extreme switch sold today providing a consistent and powerful user interface for every Extreme switch. Software development teams are constantly enhancing and innovating new networking capabilities for switches that are considered the networking industry’s fastest, most port dense, highest capacity, lowest power, and lowest latency switches. Responsibilities include collecting requirements, designing and implementing software solutions, enhancing existing software, and supporting internal and external customer network deployments.
Areas of engineering focus include:
- Cloud computing
- High performance data center and cluster computing networks
- Intelligent mobile backhaul and mobile device service delivery
- High-end audio and video network products
- Industrial and ruggedized Ethernet solutions
- Network application acceleration for hosted services
