Provide direction and leadership of 1 st and 2 nd shift Prototype Shop employees in the development, building and maintenance of weld fixtures, building, assembly, and in the debug of Prototype grain carts and planters. Manage the Proto Shop resources and meet project deliverables in coordination with the project managers to fulfill product development objectives and schedules. Support Production in the building of carts and planters
  • Develop and maintain a team in Proto of well-trained problem solvers capable of performing any task required in the Prototype shop in a timely fashion. Coordinate activities for the Proto employees (1 st and 2 nd shift) to support our customer needs and timing requirements. Communicate with internal customers any issues and possible solutions to aid in the building of and manufacturing of current and future products. Provide and implement continuous improvement suggestions.
    • Work with Manufacturing Engineering to concept and design weld fixtures: design fixtures for waterjet cutting. Communicate with Proto employees build intent so they can successfully build fixture capable of making parts to print.
    • Liaison between Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and the Prototype shop employees in the build of Prototype carts and planters. Help to resolve part build, fit-up, and availability issues. Work with Design Engineering in managing the project to a timely completion. Work with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Proto employees to develop manufacturable parts.
    • Prep and participate in project meetings. Communicate with core team member on the status of the project as related to the Prototype shop. Discuss issues and possible solutions or roadblocks.
Required Skills Proficiency in operating the following equipment: manual mills, lathes, grinders, hand tools, saws, drill presses is required. Must have good computer skills in Microsoft Office and in ERP systems and excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively participate in project and team meetings.

Required Experience Vocational or tech training in Manufacturing technology or Tool and Die/machining. 3-5 years experience in a manufacturing environment with experience in supervision, weld fixture development, and project management. Strong background in metal working/fabrication.
