Graduation from a Bachelors program in Psychology, Sociology, Education.
Minimum education: Bachelor’s Degree
Two year experience required in Therapeutic Support Services, Case Management, or day programs or residential placement
Crisis Prevention Certification initial and maintained annually preferred.
All CHOP employees who work in a patient building or who provide patient care are required to receive an annual influenza vaccine unless they are granted a medical or religious exemption.
Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Psychiatric Technicians (BMT) ensures the safety of patients at risk of harm to self or others by:
- Direct observation as outlined in the Safety Observation Levels policy (TX-10-01),
- Intervening to verbally de-escalate aggression and to physically intervene using non-violent crisis intervention techniques to assure patient, family and staff safety.
- The provision of a safe environment of care.
