The Psychiatrist will support the Defense Center of Excellence as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) consultation to senior management using brain/mental healthcare industry and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) expertise to define the strategic goals, advise the Deployment Health Clinical Center DHCC and Psychological Health (PH) Clinical standards of Care Program Managers on current mental health and brain injury issues to meet these goals.
Additionally establish guidelines and standards and advise in the Research, Evaluation, and Surveillance Division offices activities to meet the goals of the Center.
The Psychiatrist will provide SME consultation to support the DoD-VA integrated strategy for mental health.
Write and/or edit a wide variety of written products for dissemination, including diagnostic and treatment tool kits, articles, special reports, brochures or announcements that involve presentation of technical and professional subject matter; assure conclusions drawn are valid and supportable by reference to the facts; monitor and manage the timely production and quality of the products.
Assist in preparation of written guidelines, manuals, protocols, algorithms, and other documents. Create formal analyses, position papers, and/or scholarly articles for audiences of healthcare professionals.
The Psychiatrist must hold a Doctor of Medicine (MD) OR Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited graduate school of Medicine.
The Psychiartist must have completed psychiatric residency training program approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.
The physician must be Board Certified in Psychiatry.
The preferable candidate will have prior military experience, experience with research, Traumatic Brain Injury, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and other mental health issues.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Must have and maintain a current license to practice Medicine in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands or US Territories that allows for the independent practice of clinical services.
This license must be current, not revoked, suspended, or lapsed in registration.
Basic Life Support Training: Must possess and maintain current course completion documentation for basic life support (BLS) through an American Heart Association AND/OR Red Cross approved training program. BLS shall be renewed every two years.
Demonstrated experience and ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.
