Under the supervision of the Manager Public Affairs, the Public Affairs Specialist (PAS) will coordinate and manage training activities for the Public Affairs and Marketing Department community health education outreach program. The PSA will plan and organize public health education programs, designed to prevent disease, promote health, and improve the quality of life of KMHP members. The PSA will ensure that training activities, community-based interventions and educational programs are properly executed. The PSA will participate in needs assessment, research and assist in the development of program criteria, goals and objectives.
Manage community health education outreach training events, acting as a liaison between KMHP, vendors and other outside organizations.
Manage interns and transitional work outreach staff to assure daily activities
Coordinate facility needs at training events and other designated health promotion activities.
Procure and ensure the availability of materials to accompany training events and workshops, including training supplies, food, communication devices and other provisions as required.
Document activity and report outcome measurement data including tracking the number and percent of eligible members contacted and number and percent of eligible members that participate in program activity.
Independently collaborate and communicate with KMHP employees and volunteers as it relates to developing and executing community outreach activities.
Implement and coordinate events in the community targeting and focusing on ER training and HEDIS interventions.
Participate in curriculum development as it relates to advancing community health education programs.
Meet the goals and objectives set annually by Public Affairs and Marketing Department.
Coordinate and participate in health promotion activities in the community in conjunction with the Public Affairs and Marketing department.
Participate in program development activities and project work
Participate in designing, developing and implementing the Train the Trainer model.
Network and maintain strong working relationships with participating organizations, vendors and suppliers.
Analyze reports as required by departmental, corporate, and/or regulatory requirements.
Arrange and participate in internal education and training activities as assigned.
Program development activities and project work to support outcomes and analysis.
Promote member and public awareness of the importance and availability of services in support of healthy lifestyles and of the importance and availability of screenings and services.
Coordinate health education seminars and discussion groups.
Development of health education program materials that assist members in taking control of their health.
Maintain appointment and meeting schedules.
Attend required training.
Participate in meetings and discussions as required.
Support and carry out the Mercy Mission & Values. Adhere to KMHP policies and procedures.
Maintain a current knowledge base of program services, policies and procedures.
Regularly review and react to policy updates and departmental procedures.

ADA Physical Demands:
The position requires being seated for several hours a day. The employee must frequently speak and hear as well as utilize the telephone, computer, pen and paper. The employee is required to walk, and travel by car.
Education and Training:
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a health care related field preferred, health policy, health education
Knowledge of: principles and practices of health education; community organizations, resources and services; vendor procurement; program evaluation techniques; report writing techniques; research methods; proper English usage and grammar;
Minimum 3 yrs related experience required
Demonstrated planning, organization, and time management skills
Demonstrated ability to effectively interface with technical and non-technical users
