Construction Data Corporation, the 3rd largest publisher of construction information in the US, is looking for a Full Time Private Reporter to join the editorial team in our Cary, NC office. The position is responsible for reporting on private (commercial) sector construction bids. Projects will be covered from the planning and bidding stages through award, with additional follow-up for subcontractor pricing and subcontractor awards. Private Sector Reporters tasks include: Developing relationships with architects, developers, general contractors, and private sector owners in order to obtain planning news and information on currently bidding projects.Processing newspaper articles, planning board agenda, zoning notices, etc. as leads in order to generate private sector planning news.Gathering value-added information including, but not limited to, street location, construction cost estimate or project valuation, and project scope of work. Obtaining complete selected bidders lists for projects, or generating partial lists from calls to usual suspects'.Following up on each project to obtain GC contract awards.Contacting general contractors to inquire as to the projects they are bidding and to ask whether they need subcontractor pricing on any projects theyve been awarded.
Position requires professional work ethic, organizational, interpersonal skills, and the ability to make fair and sound judgment decisions. This position requires a heavy volume of telephone calls and excellent communication skills. Applicants should have prior experience in obtaining information from governmental contacts and a strong knowledge of our industry. This position also requires intermediate computer skills. Individuals should be flexible, adapt well to change, be self-motivated and dedicated to excellence. Also requires a high school diploma or GED and/or combination of education and relevant experience; a Bachelors Degree is preferred.
