Incumbent is the primary point of contact providing information to the public. Provides written and oral information regarding land status records, land sales, timber sales, mining, recreation, wild horses and burros. Handles purchases of maps, firewood, and other documents for the District. Assists the public in determining land ownership and provides mining claim information. Types letters, memos, and reports in final form. Handles the travel program.
Specialized Experience Requirements
In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement - please be sure to include this information in your resume. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade of the position to be filled. Examples: Experience as a receptionist providing information to the public both in person and over the phone. Determining which calls should be forwarded to others for response. Being responsible for opening and sorting mail, handling small cash sales. For the GS-06 conduct research on land ownership, provide information on mining or other natural resource programs. Provide customer service under stressful situations and with a variety of people.

To qualify for GS-05 requires one year of specialized experience equivalent to a GS-04 in the federal service OR 4 years of education above high school or a bachelor's degree.
For GS-06 one year of specialized experience equivalent to a GS-05 in the federal service, OR 9 semester hours of graduate level education directly related to this position.
