Currently seeking a dynamic team player to assure delivery of the ten (10) essentiall public health services by independently providing professional nursing care to clients in clinics, homes and other venues. Performs nursing assessments, perform lab tests, takes measurements, develops and implements care plans, including the administration of medication and case management. May provide services to find and reduce communicable diseases, health risk reduction counseling and other health promotion education services to individuals and groups within the health department and community. Will participate in mass screenings and immunization clinics for children and adults. Also will serve as a team member during emergencies.
The successful candidate will be VA RN licensed or eligible, possessive of knowledge, skills and abilities related to principles and practice of professional nursing, public heatlh/community health nursing, case management, health promotion and disease prevention. Have the ability and skill to work well independently and as a team member and have the ability to present ideas clearly and effectively. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Possesses the ability and experience to teach individuals and groups and to work effectively with diverse populations. Demonstrates strong organizational and project management skills. Has the ability to network, collaborate and establish community partnerships to accomplish goals.
Demonstrates knowledge and public health experience and principles. Possesses knowledge for DMAS requirements, Medicaid requlations and personal care qualifications. Knowledge of and nursing experience in one or more of these areas: case management, nursing home screening, medical-surgical, geriatric, pediatric, or public health nursing.
Experience working with the social and economic conditions relevant to public healht nursing and utilizing community resources.
Proficient in working with MS Office Suite software; data entry and demonstrate analytical skills.
Prefer BSN or equivalent training and experience. Advanced public health practice or community experience is an added plus. Bilingual English/Spanish skiills are preferred.
Unrestricted RN licensure in Virginia or a compact state.
Must have a valid unrestricted driver's license and provide own transportation for work related travel (mileage reimbursed for work-related travel).
