Working directly with the Human Resources Department and in liaison with Corporate Communications, the Public Relations Coordinator advises on and manages a communications plan to reach, inform, influence, recognize and motivate the Region’s employees, as well as the external publics. Assist with broadening employees’ understanding of the Corporation’s and Region’s mission, goals, processes and activities with the intent to foster teamwork and enhance cooperation. Oversee the production of a quarterly newsletter (oversee editorial summary, production schedule, article creation, layout and design, proofreading, printing and distribution). Assist with monthly employee forums, overseeing selection and invitation of attendees, recording and summarizing issues and concerns for publication to entire employee population. Assist management with development of presentations and speeches, and enhancement of verbal and written communication skills, and other effective communication tactics. Coordinate, support employee recognition activities, such as Wellness Fairs, Family Day Events, etc. Working with Corporate Communications and assist with responses to media inquiries and as needed serves. Spokesperson during crisis communications and other media interactions. Proactively seek opportunities to affirm the unique aspects of the Region by submitting media releases of newsworthy events within the Region or involving the Region’s employees. Pursue opportunities to participate in or provide sponsorship for outreach efforts that will broaden the Region’s presence in the community (advertising, banner displays, etc.). Assist with the Region’s charitable giving program through the NuStar Foundation. Support the Region’s participation in community advisory panels and other outreach/civic organizations. Working with the Corporate Communications Government Affairs Director, support the Region associations in the community and in government issues and concerns. Support Region participation in the local Chambers of Commerce and other industry associations, as well as partnership with local schools, groups, foundations and associations. Participate as Liaison on the NuStar Volunteer Council and United Way Committee.
Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Public Affairs, or Journalism required. This job requires 0 to 3 years of community relations, media relations or public affairs experience. Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills. Strong planning and organizational skills. Knowledge of Marketing communications, publishing and printing process.
