The PR manager will work under the supervision of the Director of Communications at 1stdibs. This role is hands-on and requires the knowledge and commitment to help the largest online luxury marketplace continue to maximize its PR potential. It is a tremendous professional opportunity for a results-oriented candidate who seeks to work collaboratively with a distinguished professional team. Interesting the media in covering a stellar array of unique and one-of-a-kind items from every corner of the world, and managing an active events program, requires a PR manager who is both sophisticated and talented, yet easy to work with and down to earth.
Focus on executing key components of our 2013 PR plan with both national and international media outlets and trade publications.
Take the lead on proactive media pitching and fielding in bound inquiries.
Oversee and manage 1stdibs sponsored and hosted industry event program: including pre and post show outreach, invitation creation and deployment, creating and enforcing event deliverables, communicating creative direction, and outlining deadline execution due dates.
Work with Communication Director to help negotiate with Event Director/ Event Partner to optimize 1stdibs’ presence (e.g., speaking slot, signage. attendee list, etc.)
Analyze event ROI and supervise/maintain overall events budget; provide clear, detailed and comprehensive post event reports to the Communications and Chief Marketing Officer
Provide support to cross-functional teams in other marketing areas and among the 1stdibs’ network of dealers.
Keep all press materials up to date, including the media section of the website and oversee media monitoring.
Desired Skills & Experience:
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in media relations with expertise in design, art & antiques, fashion, lifestyle, luxury goods and E-Commerce a must.
Track record of securing favorable coverage in the press for products, events, executive profiles and more.
Strong experience in special event management and promotion.
Impressive analytic skills and writing abilities including; press releases, and email pitches.
Understanding of the intersection between social media and PR, and moreover a honed ability of determining what’s news worthy.
Strong organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple teams in the US and abroad.
Creativity and strategic thinking is wanted, but with an emphasis on successful execution.
