Position Title: Public Relations and Marketing Assistant

Reports To: Executive Director of Public Relations and Marketing
Anticipated Starting Date : January 3, 2013
Expected Starting Salary Range : $11.84 per hour

This position provides support for Public Relations and Marketing functions including office media relations support, creating and distributing the employee and student newsletters and event support. Additional duties include writing news releases and newsletter entries. Must be able to work with diverse audiences, create a welcoming atmosphere and collaborate with employees from other departments. This position requires demonstrated skills as a collaborative, flexible team player with an outgoing personality and quality service orientation and strong interpersonal skills and interest in working with volunteers and donors. The successful candidate will be detail oriented. This position requires occasional work hours before and after the 8 a.m.-5 p.m. workday. This position requires mastery of business English and business math and the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATES and LICENSES
High school diploma with business courses
Minimum of one year of office experience.
Word processing skills (Microsoft Word preferred)
Spreadsheet skills (Microsoft Excel preferred)
Database skills and experience
Valid unrestricted Michigan Driver’s License.
One year post-secondary coursework in business, office administration, or related area.
WORK HOURS :
This is a full-time, 37.5 hours per week,12-month position.
