Public Relations Coordinator
The Michigan Humane Society is searching for an outstanding professional skilled in communication and community outreach with experience in public and media relations to serve as the organization’s Public Relations Coordinator. This full-time position, based in Bingham Farms, Mich., offers tremendous opportunity and responsibility in impacting the organization’s mission. These responsibilities include: developing and managing media stories as well as cultivating positive media and community relationships; appearing in print, TV and radio interviews as one of the organization’s spokespersons; developing and promoting marketing campaigns and events; and extensive writing of press releases, newsletter articles, e-campaigns, and more. Must have strong writing skills and be able to handle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
A college degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications or a similar field is required, as well as a minimum of three years of related experience. Animal welfare experience is a plus.
This individual must maintain a positive attitude and work ethic at all times, possess excellent communication and customer service skills, and possess the ability to work with minimal supervision yet thrive in a collaborative and team-focused environment. Proficiency in all Microsoft Office products, the Internet and social media is a must.
