Job Description

The position (1) receives and processes emergency and non-emergency calls, (2) monitors college-wide security camera systems, (3) maintains a log of nature and source of all incoming and outgoing radio messages, (4) recovers and analyzes archived records and (5) interacts with Tampa, Hillsborough County and Plant City 911 operators in processing emergency requests.

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer applicants with: (1) radio dispatching experience with law enforcement, fire or EMS, (2) ability to effectively communicate over the phone/radio in a clear, concise, and professional manner, (3) knowledge of the methods of handling difficult public contacts, (4) proficiency with standard office machinery to include a copier and fax, (5) proficiency in various computer applications, including Microsoft Office, computer-aided dispatch (CAD), records management systems (RMS), telephonic and radio call logging, CCTV monitoring, (6) ability to analyze video surveillance footage, and (7) ability to effectively communicate with 911 dispatchers, law enforcement, fire, and EMS personnel.

Supplemental Job Information

Public Safety will be filling two additional Public Safety Dispatchers (Position Numbers NFCJ0176 and NFCJ0177) from this applicant pool. Public Safety provides 24-hours coverage to the College. Applicants must have a willingness to work various shifts, including nights, holidays, and weekends. Public Safety Dispatchers are considered "essential employee positions" by the College and are subject to work during emergency closings of the College, in addition to College holidays and break periods.

This position requires at least an awarded Associate's degree or two-year college equivalent (at least 60 undergraduate hours) from a regionally accredited educational institution. If selected for an interview, applicants must bring a copy of their diploma or transcript to the interview showing the awarding of the required degree. If the transcript has not been updated to show the awarding of the required degree, applicants must bring written documentation from the educational institution showing when the degree was awarded.
