The primary purpose of this position is to develop a line-haul and
interline carrier network that provides superior service for our
customers throughout the U.S. and Canada at the most cost effective
level possible. Develop inbound distribution opportunities from
our network partners. Maintain a minimum standard of over 95%
on time performance, a claims ratio consistent with new Century
standards and freight pay outstanding below 45 days. Supervise
a staff to ensure departmental goals are met and all tracking,
expediting and communications processes are followed.
To accomplish this mission this position must continuously develop
our carrier network to ensure New Century has the best partners
supporting our business. Develop and maintain tools to assist
operations in selecting the most effective and efficient partners and
report routing effectiveness to operations management. Monitor
New Century's performance meeting our commitments to our partners
reporting concerns to management. Secure and lead the
department staff to strive for continuous improvement.
Analyze and approve weekly freight expenditures
Assist the department director in the develop and maintenance
of an optimized and reciprocating network of Inter-Line and Line-Haul
Supervise freight payment coordinator developing skills and
tools necessary to efficiently manage business processes
Review performance and spend with partners and operations and
additional projects as necessary
Must be highly organized and able to prioritize workloads.
Must possess solid communications skills, both verbal and written,
and problem solving skills.
A background in transportation
required. Background in process development and administration
a plus. Must understand Less-than-Truckload and Truckload
operations, basic rating and network optimization. Proficient
with Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
