This individual will be responsible for supply buyer duties, as required to meet the needs of all departments within the facility. Will also provide feedback to the Logistics and Purchasing Manager on a continuous basis.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Utilize systems to process Purchase Requisitions for entire operation
  • Utilize system to convert Purchase Requisition into Purchase Orders
  • File Purchase Orders
  • Follow-up on past due orders with vendor to ensure delivery status
  • Evaluate current vendors for conformance, pricing, and on-time delivery
  • Evaluate potential new vendors for qualification through RFQ, ability to provide purchased items, delivery, and financial viability
  • Negotiate vendor prices continually, to ensure best price and best service
  • Negotiate vendor payment terms; converting to Net 45 wherever possible
  • Oversee local purchasing processes and functions and ensure their adherence by all departments
  • Assist Accounts Payable with invoice discrepancies
  • Follow and maintain ISO Departmental procedures
  • Assist Logistics and Purchasing Manager as needed
  • Provide process and system training as needed
  • Ensure adequate inventory levels are maintained for critical spares
  • Assist in cycle counts on supply inventory as needed. Ensure cycle counts are completed routinely
  • Monitor daily storeroom inventory activity; maintains accurate files, material descriptions, and correct min/max levels are being maintained
  • Prepares re-order reports with quantities required for inventory replenishment
  • Issues supplies, materials, and equipment to employees
  • Assist Site Manager as needed

Education/Experience Requirements:
  • B.S., Accounting, Finance, Operations/Engineering or related field
  • years’ experience in finance, accounting, production planning, or related field
  • 2 years’ experience with Manufacturing or Distribution operations
Environment:
Work is performed in an office environment requiring lifting/carrying objects less than 20 lbs; sitting at workstation for moderate periods of time; ability to ; talking/hearing on a telephone and in-person, vision required for reading and operating a computer. Physically capable of potential heavy sporadic travel.
