To be responsible for the purchase and/or lease of construction materials as well as the permanent facility materials. To successfully obtain high quality materials for the organization in a cost effective way supportive of the construction schedules or business needs.
Prepares written inquiries or obtains verbal or written quotes for vendor supplied items and subcontracts in compliance with requisitions and/or specifications.
Receives vendor bids, evaluate bids considering price, delivery date, past performance of vendor, etc. to determine successful bidder.
Prepares accurate and complete information in support of project bids, effectively projecting pricing and sources for materials, equipment and tools for the upcoming project.
Negotiates terms/conditions of and place purchase orders. Negotiates and issues purchase change orders. Prepares all required documentation for each purchase order.
Expedites awarded purchase orders when necessary to insure timely delivery.
Handles third party rental contracts and awards, renewals, and terminations. Maintain files, rental rate information and chart all rental orders.
Resolves order, invoice, and quote problems expeditiously and accurately, ensuring that information is shared with all those affected.
Manages delivery requirements with the vendors; supervises the purchased goods adherence to jobsite quality requirements with engineering and the jobsite, as appropriate.
Establishes/maintains working contact with vendors. Meet with sales and vendor representatives as required to foster working relationships.
Maintains a bid/buy book for each project.
Performs additional assignments per supervisor's direction or as the need is apparent.
Four year technical or business degree or equivalent combination of education and procurement experience.
More than five years of mechanical contracting purchasing or estimating experience.
Working knowledge of procurement techniques, procedures, policies, accounting and business contract law.
Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills essential. Effective writing skills, exemplifying the ability to express clear and concise requirements, terms, etc.
Strong math skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Advanced computer skills including Microsoft products as well as construction procurement software experience.
