Responsibilities:
Basic Functions :
Non-stock buyouts and accessories:
Purchase non-stock assigned buyouts and accessory items for use by Star, such as joist, deck, bi-fold/hanging doors, special bi-parting doors, crane rail, roof huggers, door canopies, insulation, roof curbs, special domed skylights, etc.

Buyouts and accessories:
Secure the optimum prices, insure specifications are met, insure continuity of supply and maintain minimum inventory on assigned items. Also purchase special version of assigned items.

Nature and Scope of Position

Reports to Vice President of Operations along with Plant Scheduler, and Shipping Coordinator.

Areas of Involvement:
Works with estimators, engineers, draftsmen, field sales, and builder service representatives to secure specifications on items to be quoted and purchased.

Works with vendor personnel to determine specifications, negotiate pricing and delivery, place and expedite orders, and resolve problems and claims.

Works with Product Development personnel and vendors on product evaluations and specification development.

Negotiate pricing and other terms, places orders, and resolve claims with vendor personnel.

Coordinates with Vice President-Purchasing, purchasing managers, plant managers, other plant personnel, and estimators on various inventory and purchasing matters.

Qualifications:
Broad knowledge of Star products and procedures. Thorough knowledge of purchasing, inventory control systems and techniques. Understanding of the steel and accessory markets. Good working knowledge of commercial law. Ability to communicate and negotiate effectively.

Associate degree or equivalent or related experience. 5 to 10 years working experience in purchasing or equivalent combination of education and experience preferably as a purchasing supervisor in the manufacturing industry.
