The Purchasing Buyer is responsible for sourcing and purchasing goods and materials and maintaining pricing for inventory and internal departmental and project requirements using strong negotiating skills and the ability to work with suppliers on discrepancy issues.
Essential duties :
Procurement of goods and services and confirmation of orders.
Support of internal customer requirements.
Strong negotiating skills and ability to work with suppliers on discrepancy issues.
Resolve invoice and receipt discrepancies of purchase orders.
Maintaining of purchasing department files.
Purchase order data entry into Oracle Accounting System.
Multi-task and work as a team member of the procurement department.
Sitting for long periods of time at a computer, standing, walking, and lifting up to 30 pounds.
Climate controlled office environment.
5 years relevant work experience in purchasing field.
Knowledge of construction/ industrial environment a plus, which includes mechanical and electronic components, tools, welding equipment, etc.
Knowledge in Quality Control procurement procedures that include compliances and documentation.
Proficient in Oracle, Outlook, and Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
Ability to perform responsibilities maintaining dependability, reliability, thoroughness, accuracy, confidentiality and timeliness.
Good mathematical skills and data entry accuracy.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Demonstrated ability to perform well under pressure, complete tasks with a sense of urgency, and meet deadlines.
Excellent communication skills – written and verbal.
Accurate typing skills.
An associate or bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or economics is preferable. Candidates with equivalent work experience will be considered
