Under general supervision, to assist in the processing of purchasing materials, supplies, services, and equipment for use by the City; and to provide clerical services related to the purchasing function.

Examples of Duties:
Assist in processing departmental requisitions; verify accuracy and completeness;

Assist in the processing of purchase orders and other necessary documents related to the purchase of supplies, equipment, services and materials;

Process incoming and outgoing mail;

Retrieve previous purchase orders from file and compare prices with current purchase order;

Maintain various files, including open and closed numerical and alphabetical files of purchase orders;

Answer telephones, screen and direct calls; and

Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

One year of clerical support experience including some experience with purchasing and/or accounting functions.

Equivalent to a high school diploma

License or Certificate:
Possession of an appropriate valid driver's license.

Special Requirements :
Essential duties require the following physical skills and work environment :

Ability to work in a standard office environment; ability to travel to different sites and locations.
