DESCRIPTION:
Leverage your strong leadership and purchasing experience as our Director of Purchasing. In this role, you'll lead a team of six individual contributors while promoting efficiencies and cost-savings that will impact the entire organization. This position is responsible for the overall supply chain, forecasting, procurement, acquisition and distribution of product by maintaining the supply inventory in a cost-saving and timely manner. Primary vendor relationships are based in Asia requiring a working knowledge of import regulations and requirements to ensure company exceeds financial objectives.

DUTIES:
  • Develop and maintain a high-performance culture, resulting in continued success meeting functional KPIs and improved levels of customer service to interior and exterior customers.
  • Identify and develop key talent to ensure success of all individuals in the department.
  • Manage the tactical operations of the materials management and purchasing function & staff.
  • Ensure accurate forecasting, inventory planning and inventory quality
  • Liaise with counterparts in other functional areas such as Sales, Product Development, Sales and Warehouse personnel to ensure alignment of activities and objectives.
  • Work across a global organization sharing and learning best practices, and balancing global and local needs and impacts.
  • Collaborate with global counterparts to develop and implement global purchasing infrastructure and guidelines.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Identify vendor opportunities and challenges and partner with the appropriate personnel to ensure appropriate resolution.
  • As part of overall team, deliver on commitments to achieve expense reduction initiatives with our Asian vendor base
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • B.A. or B.S. Degree required with relevant (operations, business) field of study preferred
  • 5+ years relevant materials management & purchasing experience or equivalent
  • Specific experience in process improvement
  • Demonstrable experience successfully transforming a functional organization and working across functional areas.
  • Experience working globally preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of inventory planning, forecasting techniques as well as operational systems and warehouse management
  • Inquisitive, detail-oriented with strong quantitative analytical skills and an innovative approach to problem solving
  • Excellent MS Office capabilities required
  • Strong written communication and presentation skills also required
