Leading OEM supplier of capital test machinery to the automotive and tire industries located in Streetsboro, Ohio is seeking a Purchasing Manager.

The position involves understanding and leading broad elements in Procurement and Inventory Management in a progressive and rapidly changing manufacturing culture. The candidate will manage an organization driving sourcing, purchasing, and associated inventory management in our largest facility in Streetsboro OH and assisting the Supply Chain VP in strategic sourcing for our remaining plants in Michigan, Europe, and China. Refocusing the organization to drive cost reduction as part of all vendor negotiations and accelerating the international sourcing strategy to maximize the opportunities arising from emerging economies will be critical. Setting, maintaining and developing key supplier long-term relationships by implementing supply strategies oriented to reduce costs. Setting and managing performance targets and objectives for the supplier base. Must possess strong leadership skills and good analytical and problem solving skills.

Position Requirements

Job Requirements:
•Drive vigorous material cost savings with prime focus in Ohio and supporting Global efforts with effective domestic negotiations and support of Low Cost Global sourcing.
•Create, renegotiate, renew, and discontinue supplier agreements or contracts as appropriate
•Analyze industry trends and evolving technologies to proactively minimize risk, protect continuity of supply, and exploit emerging opportunities
•Proactively monitor supplier competencies and competitive positioning
•Review and recommend best in class suppliers for bid processes
•Develop negotiation and category strategies that deliver to business objectives and achieve sustainable relationships with suppliers
•Monitor and directly impact supplier behavior and activities to maintain continuous improvement in the suppliers delivery of products and services to the business
•The ability to lead a team, managing employees and function as part of a team while maintaining effective working relationships with all levels of employees
•Improving and accelerating our international sourcing strategy to maximize the opportunities from emerging economies
•Creating a Domestic negotiating procedure to drive cost reductions while maintaining quality product delivered on time.
•Knowledge and international experience in manufacturing, purchasing, inventory, and quality control
•Assures attainment of programs and production schedules while insuring high quality standards with incoming materials
•Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work with customers and suppliers throughout the world
•Directly manages the procurement and materials functions in a goal oriented environment
•Coach, lead, motivate, and direct the Purchasing department
•Comply with all safety requirements and regulations
•A minimum of four years in a managerial position
•2-4 years working in an Assembly Environment with a mix of machining and commercial product.
•Seven to ten years
Purchasing/Operations/Engineering experience is required
•A degree in Engineering and/or Business is required
•A proven Supply Chain Professional
