The Senior Purchasing Manager US will be responsible for managing the local Purchasing team and will be required to work collaboratively with the Head of Strategic Purchasing in Europe to take advantage of any global opportunities. The key measures of success in this role will be to deliver year-on-year financial savings and ensure continuity of supply to the US plant. The Senior Purchasing Manager US will need to work successfully with the Plant and production management, R&D and Business colleagues to build strong working relationships, as well as forge close relationship with the Finance community to build a robust material price budgeting and forecasting model. A success factor will be to build strong supplier relationships that will ensure consistent supply in times of market and supply volatility and capacity challenge. In addition to the raw material portfolio, the Purchasing Manager will also be required to take a lead role in the MRO procurement strategy and in handling Outside Service Providers.
Responsibilities and Duties
Ensure supply of critical materials to the company’s Technical Fabrics and Geosynthetics businesses in the US.
Manage and ensure contractual requirements are met and that open demand is optimized with suppliers delivering the greatest value.
Manage Supplier relations at multiple levels.
Liaise with the US R&D, Business, and Operations to identify needs and develop optimised business solutions.
Develop price recommendations for forecasting and budgeting of the company’s critical materials.
Provide the US business management teams with outlooks on supply and demand conditions that would impact the businesses. Employ risk management tools that eliminate or minimize business impacts such as fixed prices, financial swaps, and material management.
Manage the plan for the US equipment, capital, and MRO purchasing.
Define targets for the local Purchasing team and measure their Purchasing performance of savings, inventory levels and payment terms and benchmark performance against industry standards.
Lead, develop and manage the work, activities, and performance of the US Purchasing team.
Comply and ensure compliance with company’s Bribery and Anti-Corruption Policy.
Liaise with the Head of Strategic Purchasing to develop, implement, and manage a mid and long term purchase and supply strategy that delivers improved pricing/value, longer payment terms, and improved working capital management for resins, and other critical materials used in the operation of company’s businesses.
Co-ordinate with the Head of Strategic Purchasing on suppliers and programs that optimise or leverage global supply and pricing. Examples include: belts, cores and other consumables.
Advance the product life cycle sustainability through Supplier and Supply chain improvements.
Work with IT on the Purchasing requirements for ERP implementation within company.
Strong operational as well as strategic purchasing experience of commodity driven materials – petrochemical/oil related products susceptible to commodity market dynamics.
Track record of building strong supplier relationships.
