Plans, directs, and coordinates corporate activities involved in purchasing raw ingredients, equipment, tools, and parts. Continually scans environment for opportunities to streamline activities to meet product distribution needs. Oversees the movement, storage, and processing of inventory. The Purchasing Manager span of control includes knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and production methods; knowledge of raw materials, costs and techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods; knowledge of laws, legal codes and government regulations pertaining to purchasing raw ingredients.
Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to prioritize issues, take action, follow through and focus on delivering results.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to use Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
Must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds.
The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.
The employee is occasionally required to stand and sit.
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; risk of electrical shock and vibration.
Note: The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
